Multimodal Narratives
OPEN SCIENCE PERSPECTIVE
1) The practices of Science and Technology teaching become public and shareable, preserving its holistic, multimodal and complex nature;
2) Citizens’ contribution to S&T Education research;
3) Collection usable by researchers, professionals and the public.
MN AS A TOOL
Is a description, usually written by the teacher, of what happens in classroom based on multimodal independent data and, also, on teacher’s data (descriptions of intentions, decisions, attitudes, silences, gestures, etc.).
MNs are constructed based on a protocol that requires three steps:
1) Data collection about the class events from multiple sources;
2) MN construction with data reported in a single document;
3) MN validation from an external researcher.
MN COLLECTION
MNs, upon validated, are stored in this open source webpage, allowing any researcher or teacher to access them as a reader, a researcher to study any aspect of teaching practices or a contributor to enlarge this MN collection.
MAIN GOALS
1) Allow research, in small and large scale, on teaching/science communication practices in several contexts;
2) Improve science communication and/or education practices;
3) Foster Teachers’/Science communicators initial training or professional development.
